A man charged with murder over the fatal shooting of a police officer in American Samoa has entered a not guilty plea in the High Court of American Samoa.

Siaumau Siaumau Jr., is facing several felony charges following the July 22nd killing of police detective Lieutenant, Liusila Brown, in front of the High Court.

He appeared today in the High Court for arraignment after his case was sent from the District Court on Monday.

During the arraignment hearing, which lasted about five minutes, Mr Siaumau's lawyer, the Public Defender Ruth Risch, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Ruth Risch also waived the reading of the charges and the court set November 1st for a pre trial conference.

Mr Siaumau, who remains in custody, had allegedly confessed to the killing of Lieutenant Brown, according to a court affidavit.
