Visitor arrivals in Samoa drop 6.6% in May

Visitor arrivals to Samoa have dropped by 6.6 percent for May compared with the same time last year.

According to the Talamua online news, New Zealand remained the leading market providing the majority of visitors, with a 42 percent share, despite its negative growth of 6.4 percent.

American Samoa followed with 21 percent share in visitor numbers, and Australia with 16 percent.

Holiday travellers contributed to 33 percent of the total visitor traffic with New Zealand being the leading market for bona fide tourists.

In contrast, a drop of five percent was recorded in the overall total visitor arrivals from January to May this year compared with the same period last year.
