Fiji's first ever Chocolate factory could be up and running towards the end of the year.

Fiji Broadcasting reports Tailevu Provincial Council Chairman Josefa Seruilagilagi as saying they are awaiting about 35 thousand dollars from government for the factory.

He says they will be getting a chocolate machine from Sweden with the money given by government.

In anticipation of this, Mr Seruilagilagi says they are working on cocoa planting program so they can have a consistent supply to the factory when the machine is in place.

Mr Seruilagilagi says they are also looking at planting cocoa in the North.
