Visitor arrivals to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands have increased by 30 percent in June compared with the same period last year.

The Marianas Visitors Authority says arrivals to the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota registered 28,372 visitors last month compared with 21,803 in June 2009.

It says its primary and secondary markets saw improvements because June arrivals last year were hard hit by the H1N1 Swine Flu Virus.

The CNMI's primary market of Japan registered a 21-percent hike in arrivals, driven by the re-instatement of daily flights from Nagoya.

Tourists from Korea registered a 33 percent growth and the secondary market of China saw 2,298 arrivals in June 2010, a 614 percent increase from the same time last year.
