Foreign companies in PNG evading customs tax to be exposed soon

Foreign companies operating in Papua New Guinea that have evaded paying customs tax can be expected to be exposed and prosecuted.

The National newspaper says a crackdown is underway by the PNG Customs Services and already one oil company, which hasn't been publicly named, has been told it owes the state 7 million US dollars while a mining company was forced to pay more than 558 thousand US recently.

If successful, the state can expect something of a windfall in revenue from the Customs Services by the end of the year.
