Papua New Guinea police have arrested an Australian-born former banker, Garth McIlwain, in an ongoing dispute between Bank South Pacific and controversial businessman Peter Yama.
Mr McIlwain, who is the bank's former managing director, is expected to face a Port Moresby court tomorrow on charges related to the bank's attempts to recoup millions they say Mr Yama owes.
Mr Yama, who is a former politician and policeman, says he does not intimidate or influence police to make arrests.
The news agency AAP says representatives from the Australian High Commission in PNG raised their deep concerns about Mr McIlwain's arrest with PNG's attorney-general.
Mr McIlwain is the fourth foreigner associated with the dispute to be arrested.
