Tonga on track to introduce IDs for people 14 years plus

The Tonga Government has confirmed that it will introduce a system of national Identity Cards for everyone 14 years of age and over living in the Kingdom.

This was announced by King George Tupou the 5th in a speech to the legislative assembly.

The king says this will assist in bringing together into one registry all the personal details which are currently being collected by various government departments.
