The Fiji information ministry has signed an agreement to launch its own news programme on the network of privately-owmed Mai TV.
The acting permanent secretary for the Ministry of Information, Sharon Smith-Johns, has told Fijilive that the programme will be broadcast every night at 7.40pm as part of the World Cup Soccer Special.
Mrs Smith-Johns, who is also Fiji's chief censor, says there is an urgent need to speed up dissemination of Fiji government information to enable full and open dialogue between government and the people.
She says the programme will be targeted at decision makers in all sectors, young urban professionals, students, homemakers and the rural population.
