The Solomon Islands environment ministry is deploying a climate change team on a nationwide tour to develop a national policy on the issue.
The team visited Choiseul, the first province on its tour last week, where it met with local officials, NGOs, business and community leaders and schools.
The Environment Ministry says its important to have a coordinated national policy that reflects the needs of provincial centres and rural communities, and works towards sustainable development.
The team is also holding interactive workshops to help communities understand what is causing climate change, some of its impacts and ways they can mitigate and adapt to its effects.
