Bainimarama accuses Forum secretary general of working against Fiji

Fiji's interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has accused the Pacific Islands Forum secretary general, Tuiloma Neroni Slade, of working against Fiji.

Commodore Bainimarama has told the Fijivillage website that he believes Mr Slade is also behind the plans to try to shift the Forum Secretariat from Suva.

His comment comes after a ministerial Forum Contact Group meeting in Auckland this week ended with an assessment that the situation in Fiji was worsening.

Commodore Bainimarama has subsequently withdrawn an invitation to the group to visit Fiji in the next few weeks.

He has also raised the question of where Mr Slade was getting his information.
