The United States House of Representatives has passed legislation to help get American Samoa's economy in order.

The legislation passed on Friday includes a request by Congressman Faleomavaenga Eni Hunkin to provide an 18 million US dollar tax credit to American Samoa government

Faleomavaega says the vote was very close and he's very happy it has been passed.

The measure is one of three options the congressman is working on to improve the economy.

The first option is the American Samoa Protection of Industry, Resources and Employment Act or ASPIRE legislation.

The third option is seeking an additional 25 million dollars for economic assistance.
