Vanuatu police have confirmed that they have caught seven prison escapees in the past week, including Paul Shem, who's been on the run since February last year.
John Nahum is the only high risk prisoner still on the run.
Our correspondent says Paul Shem, who had been disguising himself as a woman, was caught near the airport in Port Vila.
Four people have been charged with harbouring the escaped prisoner.
Police were strongly criticised for their apparent lack of effort to find Shem in a Coroner's Report into the death in custody of another of the recaptured prisoners, John Bule.
That report, by Justice Nevin Dawson, called for action to find both the killers of Mr Bule and solve the mystery of Paul Shem.
Meanwhile all but one of a group of seven prisoners who escaped from the Port Vila jail, dubbed Container City, earlier this month, have surrendered to police.
The Daily Post newspaper reports six of the escapees had earlier met the MP Ralph Regenvanu and complained about the conditions in the new jail.
