Papua New Guinea's health minister says a cholera outbreak that's sparked the declaration of a public health emergency in two areas is under control.
Sasa Zibe's declared a public health emergency in Central Province where the official death toll is at two and 117 people are infected.
A public health emergency's been in place for several weeks in Port Moresby, where despite uncomfirmed reports of almost 600 cases of infection and seven deaths, the official death toll is three, with 132 cases of infection.
Mr Zibe says he's very concerned that cholera has flared up in the capital but the authorities have everything they need to deal with the outbreak, which began last year in Morobe.
"Thta's what I said, if you need the people out there, we will deploy the experienced staff training that we have, we will immediately make that available, it is up to the controllers to make that decision, I am not quite aware of all what is happening but I have been briefed every day that things are under control."
