Plans are under way to boost the marketing and sale of quality products from the Pacific in New Zealand.
The Pacific Quality Mark project is being developed by the Pacific Cooperation Foundation to promote goods from Pacific Island countries.
The project evolved from last year's PCF annual conference.
The Chief Executive of the PCF, Markerita Poutasi, says to begin with, the focus will be on three sectors: long-life products, spa and natural beauty and fresh produce.
"Well the quality mark is really to try and help cultivate more opportunities for Pacific exporters in the New Zealand market. We know that there are some really great products out of the Pacific, and it's really an attempt to shine the ligh on what those products are, so consumers know where to purchase them and I guess some of the qualities of those products."
Markerita Poutasi says the PCF is now in the process of designing and developing a criteria for potential trade items.
