Seven prison inmates escaped from a Port Vila jail late last week.
The police commissioner, Joshua Bong, says they are working on a plan for their recapture and he has appealed to community leaders in Port Vila and rural Efate island to help.
The seven escapees had all been imprisoned for violent crimes.
