Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, has warned against comments made by a former MP Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi that may trigger anti-Chinese and anti-Asian emotions.
The Talamua online news service says Lealailepule has been critical of the growing number of Chinese-owned businesses in his constituency of Faleata
Lealailepule said Chinese businessmen work seven days a week and keep their money that may end up overseas.
He also referred to what happened in Tonga and Solomon Islands where Chinese-owned businesess were set alight in riots.
Tuilaepa warned the former MP not to get carried away with irresponsible politicking in an all out bid to be re-elected.
