CNMI Customs inspector arrested for trafficking 'ice'

A CNMI Customs inspector tagged as an alleged supplier of methamphetamine or "ice" on Saipan and another man, have been arrested by members of the Drug Enforcement Task Force in San Antonio.

Customs inspector Joesey Maratita and Peter A. Sablan were served with arrest warrants for trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

The men, both aged 33, were taken to the Superior Court for a bail hearing on Tuesday.

Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo granted the government's recommendation that the bail be kept at US$30,000 cash for each defendant.

A preliminary hearing is set for May 5.
