New Zealand's foreign minister, Murray McCully, has appointed Nick Hurley as new High Commissioner to Samoa.
Mr Hurley is a career diplomat, who is now the Consul-General in Brisbane, but has previously served as High Commissioner in Solomon Islands.
Mr Hurley has also held postings in Fiji and the Cook Islands.
He will take up his post in July, replacing Caroline Bilkey.
