Police in New Caledonia have arrested two young people people suspected of killing a 22-year-old man after being confronted over a stolen bicycle.
The man approached the two youngsters, whom he suspected of having stolen his bicycle a few weeks earlier.
One of them then pulled a knife and stabbed him in the chest, causing a fatal wound.
When police rushed to the crime scene, their vehicle was hit by a car driven by an old man on the wrong side of the road.
A police officer and a prosecutor suffered serious injuries.
