The Australian government is DNA testing some Papua New Guineans who want to visit relatives in Australia.
The DNA tests are carried out in Port Moresby on PNG nationals who do not have sufficient documentation to process their Australian immigration visa applications.
The Post Courier newspaper reports that some PNG children and adults have been DNA tested to prove they are relatives of people they want to visit who live and work in Australia.
The Australian High Commission has confirmed that six DNA tests have been completed over the past two years.
A Commission spokesman said the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) uses DNA testing as a last resort.
