The Samoa government has approved more than 10,000 US dollars to help the people of Fiji following Cyclone Tomas.

The cyclone devastated mainly Fiji's Lau and Lomaiviti islands which were hit by winds of 200 kilometers per hour.

The Samoa government says it tries to offer assistance to countries affected by natural disasters especially Pacific countries, just as other governments assisted Samoa after it was hit by the tsunami last year.
