About 150 people have joined a march in French Polynesia over the closure of the Tahiti Hilton Hotel.

According to RFO radio, they marched to the president's office in Papeete to highlight the plight of the 130 people who have lost ther job.

The hotel closed earlier than planned, prompting the former employees to begin an unlimited strike in protest at the redundancy provisions offered by the hotel's local owner.

"The O Oe To Oe Rima union set up pickets outside the hotel threatened to broaden the strike to other hotels owned by Louis Wane [pron waan ]."
