Typhoid case in Fiji's Northern Division after Cyclone Tomas

Fiji's Northern Division has identified it's first case of typhoid following Cyclone Tomas.

The patient lives in the district of Tunuloa in Cakaudrove, an area which has been hit by outbreaks of the disease before.

A local official says more health officials have been posted to the district to monitor the situation and help contain the outbreak.

The Fiji Times reports that the Ministry of Health was in the process of getting typhoid vaccines.

A Ministry spokesman, Iliesa Tora said the vaccine will be a first for Fiji
