Over 45,000 tourists visited Fiji in January 2010

More than 45,000 tourists visited Fiji in January this year, it has been confirmed.

The number is a 37.6 per cent increase over 2009.

The Fiji Times reports Australian arrivals were recorded as at its best again with a total of 21,586 Australians visiting in the month.

It quotes Fiji tourism as saying the figure represents a 65.2 per cent jump over the 13,070 visitor arrivals recorded for the same period in 2009.

Traffic from the UK and Europe increased by 22 per cent while Fiji's US business for the period also showed good growth with a 4.1 per cent increase.
