Compensation of 100,000 US dollars for crop damage following Cyclone Rene is to be made available for farmers in American Samoa's Manu'a islands.
An assessment report showed that there was considerable crop damage on the biggest island in the Manu'a group, Ta'u.
The acting manager of the Territorial Office for Fiscal Reform, Salu Tuigamala, says at the request of the Governor, the money has been set aside for those who suffered crop and house damages when the cyclone skirted the islands in late February.
"We are working together with the Department of Agriculture likewise with Public Works and the other agencies to make sure that when we go down to help them it will be there to specifically help those wo lost their crops and some funding to maybe help with some of their repair work."
