The Asian Development Bank and the Indian Government have formed a partnership to support higher education services in the Pacific, beginning with the University of the South Pacific.
The Fiji Times reports the regional director of ADB's Fiji office Keith Leonard saying the co-financing agreement is the first time India's government has supported development in the Pacific.
He says the financial support from India aims to leverage India's extensive experience and technical expertise in ICT to help improve access to higher education in the Pacific
The Government of India through ADB will provide a one million US dollar grant to the initiative, which will directly aid the upgrading of the University of the South Pacific ICT network and prepare a larger investment project.
