Union in Fiji willing to apologise on behalf of staff sacked over anti government statements

A union in Fiji says it is willing to apologise to the capital city's administrators on behalf of a group of city council workers sacked last week for reported anti-government statements.

The Secretary of the Suva City Council Staff Association said he is willing to talk with the management and the government over the sacking of the 12 employees.

But he could not do anything unless he received a formal request from those who were sacked.

Fiji Live says the union is willing to apologise to the council management and the government on behalf of the employees if they were indeed guilty of posting anti-government comments on blogs.
