The upcoming sitting of the National Parliament of Solomon Islands will most likely endorse a recommendation to have another 17 members of Parliament.
The recommendation made by the Constituencies Boundary Commission is that 17 new constituencies be installed to cater for the population growth over the last 10 years.
The Chairman of the Commission, Dennie Lulei says the new constituencies are based on population, with some allowance for geography.
Mr Lulei says under the constitution parliament can only accept or not accept the recommendations but not vary them.
He says the increase should not affect the upcoming elections if approved by parliament.
One of the new seats is set to go to the capital, Honiara.
There has been pressure to increase the number of seats in Honiara for years.
