A new inter island ferry donated by Japan, Lady Samoa 3, is scheduled to arrive in Samoa late next week.
The ferry was inspected and handed over to the Samoan Government in a ceremony in Tokyo last week.
The Talamua online news service says the new ferry is to serve the Mulifanua-Saleologa route.
She has a seating capacity of 740 passengers in the economy class.
One of the major features is the inclusion of a 48 seat Business Class, a bigger area for vehicles and a separate gangway for passengers that will not interfere with the flow of vehicles in the ferry.
The ferry is the latest of Japan's continuing assistance to Samoa.
Japan also donated similar ferries that served the same route in the last 30 years
