FSM delegation visits Israel

10:05 am on 20 January 2010

A senior delegation of the Federated States of Micronesia is to visit Israel for five days from tomorrow at the invitation of an American Jewish organisation, Project Interchange.

The FSM delegation consists of President Emanuel Mori, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Lorin Robert, the Ambassador to Israel, the Permanent Representative to the United Nations and the Deputy Chief of Mission of the FSM Embassy in Washington.

The delegation will also meet the Israeli President Shimon Peres and the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

There will be presentations from Members of Knesset, journalists, academics, and religious leaders on Israel's economy, political system, and society and the delegation will travel to noted historical and religious sites.

The President of Nauru is also expected to visit Israel as part of the same programme.

Apart from the US, the FSM and the Marshall Islands are Israel's staunchest supporters at the UN.
