The U.S. government has filed separate charges against 24 Chinese nationals arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for allegedly trying to enter Guam illegally by boat.

Two of the 24 were indicted on 22 counts of attempting to bring aliens to the U.S.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent Blu Aisho Shiroma told a court hearing the defendants met with an undercover agent and boarded a boat believing that it would be driven by the undercover agent in order to smuggle them into Guam.

Mr Shiroma said the undercover agent made it clear to the defendants that it was illegal for them to enter Guam.

His affidavit did not mention the specific location where the defendants boarded the boat or where they were arrested.
