Fiji's land force commander, Brigadier Pita Driti, has warned the interim regime's opponents to keep a low profile this year, advising them to remember who is in control.

Brigadier Driti made the comment in a Radio Fiji interview, in which he says the military will ensure a peaceful and stable Fiji in 2010.

He says adversaries should try to cooperate with the interim regime in trying to maintain peace.

Otherwise, he says, they will be in for something really hard in terms of how they will be treated this year.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear for how much of this year Brigadier Driti will supervise the army.

Two months ago, he said he was taking a six-month break in Iraq after undergoing a lot of pressure being home.

He said he was told by the military commander, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, to take the break by working as the Fiji contingent commander in Iraq.
