Vanuatu school holiday extended by two weeks

2:32 pm on 5 January 2010

Vanuatu's education minister, Charlot Salwai, has decided to extend the current school holidays for another two weeks until mid-February.

Mr Salwai says the change follows the delay in appointing teachers to their respective posting.

He says there have also been delays in getting back the results of assignments which had been sent to Fiji for marking.

This affects the selection of school children for next school year.

Under the original government calendar, the schools were scheduled to open on January the 25th.
