The government in American Samoa is planning to establish a park as a memorial to the 34 people killed in the territory by the tsunami on September 29th.
The Governor Togiola Tulafono says the park will be named 9/29 Park and will be located on Government land in Vaitogi village.
Tsunami victims will also be remembered this week during the annual Territorial Christmas Programme, which has the theme 'The Spirit of Survival: Moving On.'
Meanwhile, Togiola says the government workers will not be expected to wear uniforms during the Christmas Programme, as has been the practice in the past, because he did not want to place yet another burden on families.
