The Fiji military has confirmed that its soldiers took some farmers and cane cutters in the Western Division into a military camp for questioning.

There have been allegations that the soldiers harassed the farmers.

The spokesman for the interim Government, Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Leweni, has confirmed to Fiji Village that some of the farmers had reportedly been involved in burning cane.

He says people will be taken in if they are linked to cane burnings.

Earlier the military had confirmed it was investigating 20 personnel over alleged harassment of farmers after complaints from the National Farmers Union.
