Fiji has been suspended by the Commonwealth Games Federation which means that Fiji athletes could be banned from attending next year's Commonwealth Games in India.
The move follows a Commonwealth decision to suspend because its military-led regime has failed to commit to elections ywo years after staging a coup.
But the Federation's president, Michael Fennell, appears to object to the Federation decision.
He is reported to plan to make a representation to the Commonwealth heads of government meeting and ask for sport not be included among the sanctions imposed on Fiji.
