Samoa's Prime Minister says he is happy to see the switch to driving on the left hand side of the road go smoothly, as it's been a long time coming.
Shortly after 6 o'clock this morning, local time, cars lined up on the main street of Apia and the switch occurred.
Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi says despite resistance, especially from the lobby group People Against Switching Sides or PASS, he's glad Samoa has finally done it.
"Originally we decided to effect the law as soon as it was passed. But then again there has been opposition and so we decided to postpone by just over a year. That's what PASS recommending for an extended time, but we thought its unreasonable to postpone again so its time for us to move."
Tuilaepa says sorting out the door on buses still needs addressing as many buses still have doors on the wrong side - making it unsafe for passengers.
