A 26 year-old woman has become the first person in Samoa to die of H1N1.
The woman was pregnant and had a caesarian operation last week to save her baby.
She died yesterday at the country's main Tupua Tamasese Mea'ole hospital.
It is the first death in Samoa since the Ministry of Health started its awareness campaign of H1N1 in May.
The number of confirmed cases in the country is now 100.
A doctor at the national hospital confirmed the death from swine flu but no other details were released.
However, reports say the 26 year-old was admitted to hospital last week with swine flu symptoms and doctors decided to perform surgery to try to save the woman and her baby.
The baby is under the care of nurses and doctors at the hospital but the condition of the child is not known.
