Fiji's Commerce Commission to examine FINTEL

11:23 am on 29 July 2009

The Commerce Commission is expected to soon be examining Fiji International Telecommunications Limited (FINTEL'S) access rate to the lending station.

FINTEL is licensed by Government to provide Fiji's international telecommunications connectivity and terminations to the global and into the domestic network.

The Fiji Village reports Commission Chairman Dr Mahendra Reddy saying all calls come in to the country must pass through FINTEL'S lending station.

It quotes Dr Reddy saying they have received complaints that the access rate is quite high and a process to review the access rate will soon be conducted.

He added he will soon be writing to FINTEL and all stakeholders to start a process of reviewing that particular access rate and to examine it is closer to competitive market rate.
