The principal of Samoa College says teachers are preparing for the possibility of having to spend more than a week off school because of the fast spread of swine flu.
The Ministry of Health in Samoa has closed all schools for one week to try and stem the spread of the flu.
The principal of Samoa college Reupena Rimoni says the school has been suffering with up to 500 of the college's 900 students absent with the flu.
He says a whole week is a substantial amount of work missed and teachers who aren't sick are at school trying to prepare for the possibility of an extension of the school's closure.
"We're actually working on it and trying to look into other measures which could take into account the lost week. The other option, the holidays coming up in the next five weeks - it might be a deduction in one of the week in holidays to catch up with the lost week."
Reupena Rimoni says it will be hard work for both students and teachers getting up to date with work before the end of year exams.
