The Samoa Tourism Authority is going full speed with plans to boost the number of tourists from the territory to vacation across the water.
The Authority is opening an office in the territory and has appointed a marketing representative in American Samoa.
The new employee is Seiuli Salamasina Ripley who will be formally introduced at a function at the Tradewinds Hotel tonight to which travel agents, airlines, business community and the media are invited.
Samoa's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Misa Telefoni was set to speak at the launching of the local office however he is now unable to attend.
The CEO of the Samoa Tourism Authority Matatamalii Sonya Hunter will be highlighting new tourism development initiatives undertaken by Samoa and what's available on Savaii and Upolu for travelers from American Samoa.
The Authority's new representative Ms Ripley says they hope to get the airlines and hotels on board to develop special packages for travelers from the territory.
Tourism is Samoa's second biggest foreign exchange earner next to remittances.
