The Australian defence minister, John Faulkner, has made a brief visit to Solomon Islands.
Mr Faulkner met the prime minister, Derek Sikua, and visited Australian troops who have been part of the RAMSI mission that was launched six years ago.
Australia presently has about 140 soldiers in Honiara as well as 200 police.
The minister also noted the contribution to RAMSI by the armed forces of New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Tonga.
