A police officer from Jayapura in Indonesia's Papua has been detained in the neighboring country Papua New Guinea for allegedly crossing the border illegally.
The Antara news agency reports that Second Brig. Yohanes was arrested in Wutung, a coastal area near the border, and has now been detained in nearby Vanimo town.
An official at the Papua Police directorate of intelligence and security says the unit has contacted PNG's Embassy in Jakarta to have the officer released through diplomatic channels.
