Telikom PNG Limited is planning to meet a strong demand for up to 90,000 of its new fixed wireless telephones by the year end but current interconnection with Digicel poses a threat.
The National newspaper repots Telikom plans to install 19 wireless base stations at regional centres to provide cheaper landline calls compared to mobile calls.
Telikom said in a statement the interconnection charges, described the highest in the world, reportedly favours Digicel.
