CNMI Nurses Association says it is prepared for swine flu outbreak

The Nurses Association in the CNMI says it is prepared for a possible swine flu outbreak.

To date no one has tested positive for the virus in the Northern Marianas or Guam.

The Association president Lee Castro says stringent screening by Homeland Security is in place for people entering the CNMI.

He says public health medical staff are well equipped and remain on alert.

"They're saying they are aware of it, they're ready. They're always looking into the signs and symptoms of every person who comes in and pretty much I think everyone's pretty confident that they'll be able to take care of an individual that has that."

The Northern Marianas Visitors Authority reports a 23-percent drop in tourist arrivals in May, a drop that has been attributed to concerns in Japan over the threat of flu.
