Lawyer Woodroffe appears in Samoa court on charge of using insulting words

A second New Zealand-based Samoan woman lawyer facing two counts of insulting words has appeared in the District Court in Samoa.

Leulua'ialii Olinda Woodroffe was charged after a complaint to the police by the Ministry of Justice last October following a confrontation between a court officer and Mrs Woodroffe.

She has entered a not guilty plea.

However, the presiding judge, Vaepule Vaemoa Va'ai, has adjourned the case until August.

This is for the police to finalise the charges and for the accused to consult her lawyer who is a New Zealand-based Queen Counsel.
