The Royal New Zealand Navy has helped out in a medical emergency in Samoa transporting a seriously ill woman from Savaii to Upolu for medical treatment.
The HMNZS Canterbury was contacted by the New Zealand High Commission in Samoa and asked to provide the ship's helicopter to transport one surgeon and three trauma nurses to the remote village of Faga in Savaii and back to Upolu.
