Next Fiji political forum due next week

2:54 pm on 2 April 2009

The next political party forum to discuss the way forward for Fiji is now due to be held on April the 9th, just under a month since the last one.

During the last gathering it was decided that NGO's should be allowed to attend the proposed President's Dialogue Forum and parties have since put forward the names of their representatives and nominated NGO's they think could make a contribution.

The final choice over which NGO's will be allowed to attend is down to the interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama.

The political forum is part of the process chosen by the interim regime before it sets an election date following the 2006 military coup.

Despite international pressure, the interim regime has ruled out a return to democracy this year.
