The Pacific Islands Forum Secretary-General says a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Asian Development Bank will reinforce ongoing cooperation in strengthening Pacific Island nations.
The MOU was signed during the first ever high level consultation meeting between the two parties in the Philippines last week.
The Secretary-General, Tuiloma Neroni Slade, says the MOU sets a framework for collaboration on broad-based economic growth, social development, good governance and other projects to benefit Pacific Island nations.
"Food security for example has been identified by forum leaders as an obvious concern for Pacific countries. We will be cooperating on this, and there are other issues like the regional project that we have started on the purchase of petroleum products."
