12:15 pm on 27 January 2009

Two experts from the Solomon Islands explosive ordinance division will leave the country soon to dispose off some dangerous explosives in Nauru.

The SIBC reports the Acting Commissioner of Police, Peter Marshall as saying the request came from the Government and Police Commissioner of Nauru following the successful disposal of two explosives by local experts last month in Nauru.

He says this request will be progressed through the Solomon Islands Government so that local experts travel to Nauru to dispose off three more items that needs safe disposal from a school construction site.

Mr Marshall says subject to Government authorisation, the explosive ordinance division will be sending two members to deal with this request.

The acting Police Commissioner, says he is pleased to give them the opportunity to go to another country and service their request.
